In Search of Our Origins presents new information on the origin of life and man, from linguistic analysis of Quran. It tells us how the first molecule of life arose on earth, what was the mechanism involved, where the event occurred and what happened subsequently. It also informs us how the first Man and his mate were created, where they were nurtured and when and where they appeared on earth.

Are religions intrinsically violent (as is strenuously argued by the ‘new atheists’)? Or, as Girard argues, have they been functionally rational instruments developed to manage and cope with the intrinsically violent runaway dynamic that characterizes human social organization in all periods of human history? Is violence decreasing in this time of secular modernity post-Christendom (as argued by Steven Pinker and others)? Or are we, rather, at increased and even apocalyptic risk from our enhanced powers of action and our decreased socio-symbolic protections? Rene Girard’s mimetic theory has been slowly but progressively recognized as one of the most striking breakthrough contributions to twentieth-century critical thinking in fundamental anthropology: in particular for its power to model and explain violent sacralities, ancient and modern. The present volume sets this power of explanation in an evolutionary and Darwinian frame. It asks: How far do cultural mechanisms of controlling violence, which allowed humankind to cross the threshold of hominization—i.e., to survive and develop in its evolutionary emergence—still represent today a default setting that threatens to destroy us? Can we transcend them and escape their field of gravity? Should we look to—or should we look beyond—Darwinian survival? What—and where (if anywhere)—is salvation?

"What is the origin of the universe? Are we alone in the Universe?" Using clear and plain language, the author explores these two interesting scientific-philosophical themes with a broad range of studies, including astronomy, cosmology, chemistry, biology, geology and planet science. The first part discusses the origins of everything, from the Big Bang to humankind. It follows the long course of evolution — from original matter to the formation of more complex structures, from the furthest galaxies to the nearest stars, from planets to organic molecules, from the first and most elementary forms of life through to the reptiles, the dinosaurs and the advent of man. The second part traces the history of the Earth and evaluates the risks of extinction in the future as predicted by scientists. Is the Earth the only habitable planet in the Universe? This question initiates the discussion on the importance of the Earth's position in the solar system and the significance of our geologically alive planet. The final part is dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial beings with identifiable life forms. It also describes attempts for searching, from the past to the near future. This remarkable book provides the best answers we have to the epic questions about us and our place in the universe. A Journey through Consciousness It is such a pleasure to open a book and be met with an excellent writing: a mellifluous flow of deeply-considered thoughts and fine expression. That is the experience of reading Suryansh Shekhar's ""Towards the Sound"". He brings a remarkable youthful vigor to a world of deep intellect. Who we are, who we think we are and how are these identities constructed? In today's matter-of-fact world most people live in thoughtless oblivion, not searching for such knowledge. The author takes us into a world of nuanced understanding, through logical and brilliant journeys into essential truths. This is a delightful must-read book for every sensitive person who likes to examine his travel through life. The author presents a handbook of understanding oneself and one's interactions with the world. He offers a path to freedom, leaving behind the chains of our previous conditioning. Finally, I must say that the entire journey of the book, through the many caverns of the mind, is shared through a clearly and wonderfully-written prose.

The site of Eden in relation to Israel was obtained while studying the Jewish seventh-day sabbath, and it falls on the International Date Line. This convergence is astonishing and led to my biblical and historical dig into our past. I found out that the International Date Line is not an arbitrary decision, it comes from all of us in all our sites around the world, it comes from a shared beginning. It makes sense that it would come from the beginning according to the origin account of the Bible, we all have a common ancestor, Adam, who was taught by God the days of the week to remember to keep the sabbath holy for communion with the creator and that this tradition of the week was passed down to all descendants of Adam. Like all other traditions that remain with us since their beginning, this shared tradition of the week has the effect of providing us the site of Eden, corroborated by the sabbath in relation to Israel. Thanks to the Sabbath still kept by the Jews to this day we have learned the significance of the International Date Line. Many efforts have been made to identify the site of Eden, the most popular based on the merging of rivers, but that is incompetent after the flood event mentioned in the Bible. Rivers will not help us identify the site of Eden because of the flood, they could not think of a better way, but the Sabbath does reveal the site of Eden, when understood correctly, it turns out that the Jews have not understood the Sabbath and neither has anyone else. To discover something no one has understood before is exciting and of course I want to share it. In this book I will explain the mesmerizing way the sabbath and the tradition of keeping count of days by all of us around the world since the beginning corroborate each other to give us the site of Eden.

What is life? Where do we come from and how did we evolve? What is the universe and how was it formed? What is the nature of the material world? How does it work? How and why do we think? What does it mean to be human? How do we know? There are many different versions of our creation story. This book tells the version according to modern science. It is a unique account, starting at the Big Bang and travelling right up to the emergence of humans as conscious intelligent beings, 13.8 billion years later. Chapter by chapter, it sets out the current state of scientific knowledge: the origins of space and time; energy, mass, and light; galaxies, stars, and our sun; the habitable earth, and complex life itself. Drawing together the physical and biological sciences, Baggott recounts what we currently know of our history, highlighting the questions science has yet to answer.

Although the name Pithecanthropus is now seldom used, there are few who study the origin of our species who will fail to recognise the historical place of the usage and its association with Eugene Dubois. During the last thirty or forty years, Australopithecus and its African context has tended to draw attention from the early work on our origins in Java. It is now increasingly common to hear the term 'pithecanthropine' used only to indicate the Asian or Far Eastern examples of Homo erectus which, although probably derived from African ancestry, have some features that in the opinion of some experts may justify their being considered distinctive. This discussion is not within the pages that follow which deal extensively with the work of Eugene Dubois. He was an extraordinary man who did as much as any person since to put the great antiquity of our ancestors firmly in the public domain. Dubois became involved with the study of human origins from a medical and anatomical background as have many since. The jealousies and professional pressures that we think of as a phenomenon of the post-war years were clearly a major factor in deciding the future of his career.
