From award-winning author Jewell Parker Rhodes comes a powerful novel set fifteen years after the 9/11 attacks in a classroom of students who cannot remember the event but live through the aftermath of its cultural shift. When her fifth-grade teacher hints that a series of lessons about home and community will culminate with one big answer about two tall towers once visible outside their classroom window, Dèja can't help but feel confused. She sets off on a journey of discovery, with new friends Ben and Sabeen by her side. But just as she gets closer to answering big questions about who she is, what America means, and how communities can grow (and heal), she uncovers new questions, too. Like, why does Pop get so angry when she brings up anything about the towers? Award-winning author Jewell Parker Rhodes tells a powerful story about young people who weren't alive to witness this defining moment in history, but begin to realize how much it colors their every day.

War. Fire. Destruction. Xhea believed that the Lower City had weathered the worst of its troubles-that their only remaining fight would be the struggle to rebuild before winter. She was wrong. Now her home is under attack from an unexpected source. The Central Spire, the City's greatest power, is intent on destroying the heart of the magical entity that resides beneath the Lower City's streets. The people on the ground have three days to evacuate-or else. With nowhere to go and time running out, Xhea and the Radiant ghost Shai attempt to rally a defense. Yet with the Spire's wrath upon them, nothing-not their combined magic, nor their unexpected allies-may be strong enough to protect them from the power of the City. Bringing together the most popular genres of the 21st century, this book argues that Americans have entered a new era of narrative dominated by the fear—and wish fulfillment—of the breakdown of authority and terror itself. • Provides an interesting new framework in which to examine popular culture • Examines films, television shows, and primary texts such as novels for evidence of cultural anxiety and a preoccupation with terror • Offers insightful and original interpretations of primary texts • Suggests possible conclusions about cultural anxiety regarding breakdowns of tradition and authority

The Final Crisis makes a strong claim that the Bible is the word of God, by declaring the things that are to come. It explains the utterances of God that have been fulfilled, that are being fulfilled, and will be fulfilled. “The Final Crisis,” therefore, outlines the future of the USA, the future of Israel, and the rise of the king of the south and the king of the north that will reign terror on this world. This book, also, outlines the future of the two Muslim mosques on the Jewish temple site and what will befall them. It explains how Russia will betray the West and embrace a terrorist power. “The Final Crisis” explains nine-eleven from the Bibical standpoint. The European Union is shown to be the Revised Roman Empire, and the explanation is given as to how it will be reduced in size from its current number to ten nations. Ultimately, this book outlines how Christ will come and put down all rule and all authority and rule this world for the glory of God.

Artful Grief is a decade long study of loss by an art therapist, in the aftermath of her daughter's suicide. On October 11, 2001, Sharon received a phone call in the middle of the night from the New York City Police Department telling her that her seventeen year old daughter Kristin, had "fallen" from the roof of her college dormitory. So began her journey into the labyrinth of unspeakable grief. As the first year drew to a close she found no comfort in traditional therapy, and no solace in spoken or written words. In surrender to her inner art therapist's guidance, she began to create collages. She cut and tore images out of magazines and glued them on various size paper. The paper was a safe and sacred container, receptive to the fullness of emotion, story and paradox. Over time there was transformation and healing. Artful Grief A creative roadmap through violent dying and grief. A dose of "soul medicine" for survivors. A way to retrieve the pieces of a shattered life, with paper, scissors and glue. A resourceful tool for those suffering with complicated grief and/or PTSD. A place for the unspeakable to be seen and heard. A process to quiet the mind and open the heart. A visual experience of trauma images as illustrations of hope. A sample of prophetic dreams and meditations that are illuminating. A heartfelt sharing of "intimate secrets" for understanding and compassion. A surprising "grief gift" that is inspiring.
